Start with your private vault

Create a vault passphrase and save an encrypted backup somewhere you trust. We cannot recover a forgotten vault passphrase. Care records work without an online account. Lock the vault before handing over your device; substitute-provider access has a separate PIN and a limited workspace.

Meals, attendance, and claims

Record authorized-adult signatures and meal service as it happens. Review every eligibility flag before exporting or submitting a claim. CACFP calculations are recordkeeping aids. Your sponsoring organization determines whether a claim is accepted. Configure capacity to match your license and verify requirements with your licensing agency.

Optional online services

Use Connections to sign in with an emailed code. Connect a sponsor only with its invitation and your consent. Parent updates require a recipient preview and confirmation. Private parent links expire after seven days and can be revoked. A recipient may still save or forward content.

Subscriptions

The free provider tier supports up to six active enrolled children. Nest Plus is $12 per month or $99 per year in the United States. The purchase screen shows the current store price and renewal terms. Restore purchases from Plans. Manage or cancel subscriptions in your device’s store subscription settings. Deleting an account does not cancel an Apple subscription. Sponsor billing is not activated yet. This release supports email and private links.

Privacy

Effective October 26, 2026. Direction of Business operates Nest Child Care for adult child-care providers and sponsoring organizations in the United States. Nest is not intended for children to create accounts.

Local records and encryption

Child profiles, contacts, attendance signatures, meals, care notes, incident and medication records, invoices, and photos remain in your encrypted local vault unless you explicitly export or share them. The vault uses AES-256-GCM with a passphrase-derived key using PBKDF2-SHA256 and 600,000 iterations. Native builds additionally use a SQLCipher database and a device-protected key. Your vault passphrase is never sent to Nest’s server. Exported PDFs, CSVs, screenshots, and ordinary messages may be unencrypted; choose recipients and destinations carefully.

Optional account and sponsor data

Online sign-in processes your email address, hashed sign-in codes, hashed session tokens, and a hashed IP address for rate limiting. The service stores sponsor connections, consent events, template versions, subscription identifiers, and expiration dates. Submitted claim summaries contain dates, local child numbers, initials, meal types, tiers, eligibility results, and review flags. They exclude full names, contacts, signatures, photos, medical notes, and menus. Initials and claim summaries remain private information.

Parent updates

Private-link summaries are encrypted on your device. The server stores ciphertext, expiry, and ownership information; the decryption key is placed in the link fragment and is not sent to the server. Anyone who obtains the complete link can read it until it expires or is revoked. Ordinary emails are not end-to-end encrypted: the selected recipient address and message content are processed by Resend for delivery. Nest stores delivery status and provider reference, not the recipient or message body. Do not include sensitive information in ordinary email.

Providers and use

Cloudflare hosts the online API and database. Resend delivers sign-in codes and confirmed emails. Apple processes iOS purchases; Nest verifies signed transactions to grant access. We do not sell personal information, run advertising, or include cross-app tracking or analytics SDKs. Hosting and delivery providers may process operational logs under their policies. We use data to provide requested services, protect accounts, verify purchases, and resolve support requests.

Retention and deletion

Sign-in challenges are removed after one hour, sessions expire after 30 days, private links expire after seven days, delivery metadata is removed after 90 days, and application audit events after one year. Submitted claim summaries are removed from Nest’s hosted database four years after their last submission. Your sponsor may retain its downloaded records under its own obligations. Payment providers retain billing records under their policies. Your local records and backups stay under your control.

Delete an online account in Connections after signing in again. This revokes sessions and private links and disconnects the provider. It does not erase previously submitted sponsor claims, external copies, local records, or store subscriptions. Delete local records separately in Settings and remove your exported backups from their destinations. For access, correction, deletion, or privacy questions, contact aa-privacy@directionofbusiness.com. We verify the request before taking action. Do not email child records as proof.

Request account deletion

In Nest, open More → Connections, sign in again, and choose Delete online account. If you cannot access the app, email aa-privacy@directionofbusiness.com from your account address with the subject “Nest account deletion.” We will verify ownership and explain any retained records. See the retention section above. Local vault deletion and subscription cancellation are separate actions.

Terms

Nest is a recordkeeping tool for authorized adult providers and sponsor staff. You are responsible for lawful collection, guardian permissions, accurate records, appropriate recipients, device security, backups, and compliance with your license and sponsor requirements. Nest does not grant a license, establish CACFP eligibility, guarantee reimbursement, provide medical advice, or replace official agency guidance.

Provider subscriptions renew automatically for the selected period unless canceled through the store before renewal. Payment is charged through your store account at confirmation. Manage or cancel in store settings; store refund policies apply. Monthly and annual plans provide the same provider entitlement. The Apple standard end-user license agreement applies to the iOS app. Keep a copy of required records independently of Nest.
